BOSTON POPS SUMMER TRAIL LEADS TO THE VINEYARD

Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra will grace the Island of Martha's
Vineyard on Saturday, August 22nd at the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs at 5:30 p.m.  The
Vineyard concert is one of the many stops along the Orchestra's busy summer trail.

The Pops have traveled from their summer home in Tanglewood to the Midwest, to
Nantucket and back.  The Nantucket concert was also a benefit for the Island's Hospital and
was attended by 11,000 people and raise over $1 million.  Stopping for performances in
Great Woods and Hyannis, the Pops make their way to the Vineyard for an exciting concert
featuring Robin McElhatten in her debut performance with the Pops.

Robin has taken the Boston area by storm, singing lead and back up vocals for many well
known bands.  She has performed over the years with Tavares, Sherma Andrews, Jon Secada,
and many others.  Robin is also a National Foundation for the Arts award recipient in the jazz
vocal category.  Keith Lockhart has been quoted as saying, "she's a fantastic rising star...
sometimes she sounds like a young Aretha Franklin and then she turns into Sarah Vaughn."
While the first half of the program will be music by John Williams,  Leonard Bernstein, and
Aaron Copeland, the second half will feature Robin in a tribute to the great female vocalists,
Ethel Merman and Judy Garland.  Also in the second half there will be an orchestral tribute
to the Motown years.

This years Pops on the Vineyard concert is sure to be a spectacular event, with proceeds
benefiting the Martha's Vineyard Hospital and the Tabernacle Restoration Fund.  Pops on
the Vineyard is produced by Island Events Fund, Inc., a non profit corporation.
